Citizen's Police Academy


March 19th - April 23rd, 2024

7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.

Classes held each Tuesday.

Applications due by March 8th, at 6:00 p.m.

About the Academy

The Citizen's Police Academy is a 6-week course taught by law enforcement personnel to acquaint the citizens of La Marque with their Police Department. The course of instruction consists of:

  • Patrol procedures
  • Criminal Investigations
  • Juvenile laws
  • Search and Seizure
  • Traffic enforcement
  • Special Response Team (SRT)
  • and MORE!

Classes are held on every Tuesday, between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.  The second week of the class will consist of "Ride-a-longs" with La Marque Police Department Officers.  

Each Academy class will be limited to 15 students.  

Rules for Acceptance

Applicants will be disqualified if any of the following conditions apply: 

  • Felony or Class A Misdemeanor Convictions (Includes Deferred Adjudications Convictions)
  • Class B Misdemeanor Conviction in the past 10 years
  • Family Violence Conviction
  • Indictment for any criminal offense
  • Under 18 years of age
  • Has/Had a pattern of abusing controlled substances/narcotics
  • Sold/Distributed narcotics
  • Dishonorable Discharge from Military Service

Final approval is at the discretion of the Chief of Police and department Command Staff.
